How did I get in to building decks?

When I was 23, my father had me start building decks with him and my grandfather. At this time I could not even read a tape measure nor have I ever used a saw. My family have been woodworkers for many generations. I personally never believed in the old saying "It's in the genes" until I started building decks.

I noticed I was learning things very quickly. It took me less than a day to learn how to figure and cut stairs. I was able to see the decks built before they were. I realized that I had a gift for building decks. On October 1, 2011 I started up my own business and now I build decks for many builders in Jackson County.
